Integration Across Platforms

Egan tributes his production success to his ability to integrate content onto new technology platforms. In the 1980’s extreme skiing burst on the scene with the help of the VHS video tape.  Armed with a business degree Egan quickly started to negotiate with his sponsors to not only produce his own films but the distribution rights of the videos that featured his exploits.  His newly formed company Egan Entertainment Network, Inc. tied up U.S and International distribution rights with major producers such as Warren Miller, Eric Perlman and 3M and others. He then moved into providing cable television shows on cable ESPN, NESN, MSGN, Prime Sports and others with winter action sports content which eventually led to the launch of his television show, Dan Egan’s Wild World of Winter, which aired for over 12 years nationally and was nominated for 3 regional EMMY Awards. As viewers migrated online to watch content Egan once emerged again as a leader in the distribution of Olympic Sport and World Cup Events producing content at Vancouver, Sochi and the London Olympics as well as Skiing, Sailing World Championships, for major sporting outlets such as Ski Press, Boston Globe, RadioBDC, Indie617, US Sailing and Boston.com. This technology-based distribution strategy for the last 30 plus years has be a major value to sponsors such as Jeep, Subaru, Taco Bell, Thrifty, Red Bull, Sperry, Elan, Suzuki, and countless other consumer brands, tourism associations, resorts and action sport companies. Today his company Degan Media, Inc. consults with film and documentary companies for Video on Demand and Streaming distribution.
