Dan Egan & Eric Wilbur’s Thirty Years in a White Haze Wins the NASJA Harold Hirsch Award

June 8, 2023, Dan Egan and Eric Wilbur accepted the 2023 Harold Hirsch Award for Excellence in Snowsports Journalism in the Words Category—Books for Thirty Years in a White Haze. This is Egan’s 5th NASJA Harold Hirsch award. He has been honored twice for his video productions, once for his blog at Boston.com during the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and last year for his feature article writing.

“I am very excited that the book continues to be recognized for the storytelling of skiing the remote regions of the world and the perspective it provides on the history of extreme skiing,” says Dan Egan, co author of Thirty Years in a White Haze.

This award is Eric Wilbur’s second NASJA honor. Last year he won the Mitch Kaplan award for dedication and excellence for his position as the Editor of the New England Ski Journal, a monthly publication.

“This book for me is one of the highlights of my writing career. Dan’s adventures around the globe and his commitment to the skiing lifestyle made the collaboration of the project thrilling,” says Eric Wilbur, co author of Thirty Years in a White Haze .
